Welcome to my online CV! I am an NYU graduate and current Urban Fellow with the Mayor's Office of Economic Opportunity with four years of experience in sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) research and prevention. I am interested in SGBV and human trafficking through the public health lens, trauma-informed holistic care, and reproductive health justice. This website showcases some of my best work, including research projects, awards, and presentations. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to collaborate!
CCIHP is a non-profit that creates advocacy programs, contributes to Gender Equality and Domestic Violence Prevention laws, conducts studies on SGBV, and develops initiatives to empower the community to strive towards gender equality and SGBV prevention in Vietnam.
As a Researcher for CCIHP in Hanoi, Vietnam, I assisted in ongoing local and national quantitative research projects related to Gender Equity, SGBV, and Reproductive Health.
This a research and advocacy lab that studies the intersection between SGBV and health including sexual violence, sex trafficking, intimate partner violence, and trauma-informed care.
As ADR for the Empower Lab, I oversaw the responsibilities of 17 research assistants (RAs) including undergraduate, graduate, and medical students. Responsibilities included organizing the hiring process, conducting interviews for qualified Lab applicants, and onboarding new RAs.
As the Team Leader I led the hypothesis generation, data entry, and manuscript writing process to quantitatively report the efficacy of a unique integrated model of care employing both health and social services to treat survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. I also presented updates at Lab meetings on behalf of my team composed of medical and undergraduate students.
As the former Team Leader for the Male IPV team, I led the data extraction process for a scoping review identifying existing practices screening men for IPV perpetration. This study advocated for a standard screening tool for Male IPV in clinical settings.
Male Intimate Partner Violence: Led and completed research tasks to identify the scope of screening for IPV perpetration amongst men.
EMPOWER Center: (1) Identifying pre-trafficking vulnerabilities that lead to victimization and re-entry into sex trafficking. (2) Identifying the efficacy of an integrated social and medical service model for survivors of CSE.
Sugar Dating: Exploring the vulnerabilities and experiences of college-aged adults who partake in sugar dating.
Senior honors thesis for Sociology completed in 2023 and awarded the distinction of high honors.
My thesis investigated the perception of health, safety, and risk amongst Black and Afro-Latina women in the prenatal and postpartum period in New York City. I conducted 18, 60-90 minute interviews with NYC women in both reproductive time periods. My thesis utilized the social determinants of health as a framework to argue that primary concerns impacting safety and maternal health outcomes amongst black mothers are rooted in structural inequality. The Global Development Commons, or GDC for short, launched during the 75th United Nations General Assembly in September 2020. The GDC is an open access digital platform to crowdsource evidence and innovations to support the child-focused Sustainable Development Goals.
I completed an independent research project for their Global Development Commons investigating the potential impact of COVID-19 on existing opportunity gaps and education inequalities on a global scale. This study mainly aimed to uncover how the pandemic would impact students who were already experiencing academic disadvantages focusing on the U.S., Nigeria, Israel, and Argentina. As a part of this project I interviewed students and educators from four countries about their experiences.
As a senior in high school I completed a capstone project identifying the efficacy of a novel treatment for pediatric hodgkin and non-hodgkin lymphoma. This project was purely quantitative and involved the review of patient charts and electronic medical records to identify the progression and improvement of patient conditions over time through event-free survival rates. NYC Opportunity (NYCO)
As an Urban Fellow I assist in ongoing evaluations of anti-poverty measures and programming in New York City that cater to low-income residents, unhoused individuals, and young people. Under NYCO I also create proposals for novel inter-agency gender equity programming.
SAVI provides high quality direct services to survivors of human trafficking, sexual and domestic violence and their loved ones, and worked with coalitions to advocate policy and legislative changes on behalf of survivors.
As a patient advocate, I responded when a patient-survivors presented for Sexual Assault or IPV. I coordinated their care, social work appointments, police reports, and served as a patient support during a traumatizing time. I listened to patient experiences to make them feel heard and provide a trauma-informed patient experience.
If you or a loved one has experienced sexual assault or intimate partner violence in the New York City area, please visit your local hospital and ask for SAVI services.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, NYU created an ambassador program to manage and distribute PPE to the campus community.
As a PHA, I facilitated the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hygiene products to the campus community. I aided in the management of the active PPE distribution centers on campus and educated NYU affiliates on the importance of public health initiatives regarding COVID-19.
Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities
I co-created a new community health worker (CHW) initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccine rollout in 2021. I created new guidelines for outreach strategies using the feedback from different community-based organizations. These outreach strategies were tailored toward reaching the communities of migrants and the rural areas of MD. I also co-facilitated the training sessions for over 40 CHWs working throughout the state of Maryland.
The BWLN, under the New York University School of Law, works to advance women's-focused leadership and ensure the success of women in public life and law.
As an office researcher, I compiled diversity statistics data to highlight local and national firms failing to prioritize diversity and inclusion. I also assisted in the planning and execution of events occurring at the NYU School of Law sponsored by the BWLN.
